Abbey was in Unova. It was new. It was big. It was kind of frightening. She was all alone for the first time in her life. She tried to find friends but she just couldn't seem to find anyone to befriend. Everyone was so busy.
She had decided she would wander off on her own. Arabella, her Torchic, had tried to keep her company but even her happy demeanor was failing her this time. She had placed her back in her healball and had concluded that exploring the caves might give her the chance to encounter some pokemon that she could befriend.
She strolled passed the altered danger sign and into the mouth of the cave that had numerous water reserves. She heard some noises coming from ahead and flung Arabella's pokeball "Arrabella I choose you!" she squealed "Flamethrower." The fire spouting from Arabella lit up the cave for a few milliseconds before it was returned to darkness.

Matt was walking from the pokemon laboratory. He had recently gotten his Piplup and was excited to explore with him. As he passed by a mountain he was a sign that said "danger." This, however, was crossed out and replaced with the word, "welcome." Matt couldn't help but be completely intrigued and looked down at his piplup with a quivering smile. "Should we explore?" he asked his little penguin pokemon. "Pip pip!" Piplup said excitedly and fluttered his little wings. "Okay... Let's go," he said and entered the cave.
Before he could go too deep into the cave, Matt heard a noise and then the cave lit up. Not only was it lightened, it was also getting warmer and warmer. Suddenly Matt felt a searing heat and ran in the other direction. "What the!?" he yelled and ran in the opossite direction. Piplup jumped on his head and pattet the sparks away. "Uhm... Hello?" he asked into the once again dark cave. "Who's there? I don't want to be rude but you kind of screwed my hair up with that little trick." Walking a bit deeper into the cave, allowed him to see a little girl and a small figure next to her.

Abbey was shocked to hear a voice coming from the other direction in the cave. “Ello?” she said somewhat flabbergasted by the fact that there was actually someone else in the cave. “I’m sorry.” Abbey blushed a deeper shade of scarlet than a Magicarp will ever be. Arabella was standing by her side looking up at her grinning.
Walking forward Abbey toppled over a stone that was hidden by the dark. Falling forward she was flung against a stalagmite. “OW!” rolling around the floor she clutched at her face. “Can’t believe I’m such a klutz.” Standing up she brushed herself off. Walking gingerly forward trying to not have a repeat of what just happened. “I’m Abbey. Who might you be?”
Arabella was walking short on her heels. “Toooooor-chi-chi-chi.” Torchic giggled. Abbey brushed herself off once more just to make sure that she wasn’t covered in dust. She still couldn’t see what this guy looked like the cave was too dark to make out anything.

THUD! Matt had no idea what was going on but he thought that someone must've fallen down. "Are you okay?" he asked the silhouette in the dark. Luckily she stood up quickly enough and continued towards him. "Abbey, hi. I'm Matt... What are you doing here?" he asked her. Her voice seemed young... To be fair, Matt was only sixteen, and not too old himself. "Are you okay?" he asked again. He wouldn't want anyone to be heard.
Matt fumbled in his jean pocket and drew a cigarette lighter from it. Flicking a flame on with his thumb, the whole cave lightened up with a soft orange glaze. Water was dripping off the walls slowly and heart shaped stains were left on the cave walls... Probably by some woobats. Matt tilted his face a bit and his eye caught the light, twinkling in the fire. He could now also see the girl in front of him. A bit shorter than himself, and with beautiful straight blonde hair. "Nice to meet you," he added after he could add a face to the voice. "Is that a torchic?" he asked her in amazement. "Absolutely adorable!"
Piplup did NOT enjoy Matt giving attention to another pokemon and threw a little tantrum. He flapped his wings on the ground and made little screeching sounds. After that didn't work, he bit Matt's jean and jumped into his arms. "Piplup! Be good now! We've got companions!" Matt said and stroked Pip's head.

Abbey was taken aback by the forwardness of the boy she had just met. "I came in here to try and find some pokemon to befriend." She blushed slightly as some people might think her crazy for thinking you could make friends with pokemon. He flicked on a lighter and she was astounded. He had the most striking features.
She blushed even more and cleared hear throat. "You've got nice eyes." She said whilst lookingat the floor. Arabella rubbing up against her leg sending warmth up her calf muscle. For the first time she realised that Matt had a Piplup. "Oh my gosh, I love Piplup they are the cutest."
Whipping out her pink bedazzled pokedex she had nicknamed Deedee she pointed it at piplup. A cool female voice rang through the cave. "Piplup the penguin pokemon, a poor walker they are often seen falling but because of their pride will take it in their stride puffing out their chests and carrying on." Abbey was glad that Professor birch had given her her pokedex before she had left or she would've been lost. Deedee was filled with fun facts about all pokemon.
Abbey picked Arabella up and stroked her feathers absentmindedly as she looked at Matt. "So where are you from?" The pool of water they were standing next to started to ripple as something disturbed the tranquility of the tidalpool.

"You have nice eyes," the blonde girl said to Matt's shock. He knew he wasn't unattractive... But he didn't expect a direct compliment from this girl so bluntly. "Uhm... thanx. I like your... ears," he said. He wasn't really the smoothest of talkers and had no idea how to react to a compliment. "Oh that's pretty cool," Matt exclaimed as Abbey took out some machine that said stuff about his Piplup. "Where did you get that? I should get me one too..." He was completely knew to all these things as his parents had kept him isolated from pokemon all his life. He hated them for that... But they probably weren't all bad.
"I'm from a farm town in the Sinnoh Region," he said casually as he stared at the tiny Torchic, now in the girl's arms. "She's really very cute..." he added without thinking. "Have you had her for long? And oh yeah," he said shaking his head at himself. "Where are you from?" he finished with a smile.
Piplup was intrigued by the orange figure in the new girl's arms. He leaned a bit forward to get a better look, and almost fell out of Matt's arms. "Pipipipip!!!" he yelled as he jumped back against Matt's chest.

Abbey was glad that she had met a nice person on her travels. She was thinking that maybe she would have to look really hard to find a friendly face. “My ears?” Abbey asked in disbelief as Arabella cocked her head to the side. As Matt exclaimed about her pokedex she looked at him quizzically. “My Pokedex? I got her from Professor Birch before I Set out from Hoenn.”
Abbey just grinned at him he was kind of funny. “I’ve had her for almost a year now but we didn’t do much travelling at first.” Arabella felt warm against her chest. Though never wanting to tell anyone it she actually much preferred the warmth of a fire type to the cool and collected manners of a water type.
“So what are you doing in this cave?” Always the quizzical one she knows why she had come here. “I’m trying to find more pokemon before I face the gym leader, Dawn Pour.” She took out an aspear berry from her bag and broke it in half, giving half to Torchic. “Would Piplup like the other half?”

Piplup looked up from Matt's chest as he heard the new girl's offer. He slowly looked up at her, down to the berry and back at Matt, as if asking for permission. "Pip?" he said sweetly and Matt nodded slightly. Piplup turned back to Abbey and nodded hugely, grinning with his eyes closed as he nibbled on the berry. "So precious," Matt commented as he watched their pokemon feast on a simple berry.
"Oh... Is there a trainer here? Forgive me if I seem... Ignorant... But I'm really new to this. My parents were against pokemon and people living together and tried to keep me away from them as much as possible," he explained shyly and looked down at his feet. "That's why I didn't know what that thing was," he went on, referring to the pokedex but forgetting the name again. Needless to say, Matt wasn't the smartest pea in the pot...
"I just saw the sign on the cave that said danger... And I HAD to come in! I wonder what kind of pokemon live in here... Must get boring after a while... I mean it IS extremely dark and quiet after all..."
